Summer is always the time when dress codes begin to be challenged. Appropriate dress is often a gray area, although some things are clear no-nos.
My own outfit was lightly questioned today by my boss. I was startled because I was wearing a dress that I had worn many times before in the office. Never before had the dress garnered any attention. The one difference today was the shoes.
In the past I wore plain old boring office black shoes with the dress. This time I was wearing sexy sandals. Do sexy sandals really make a hemline seem a little shorter?
After jokingly making me do Catholic shortness test of lowering my arms to see if my fingertips extended beyond the bottom of my dress, I was cleared of all impropriety.
The lesson learned is that appropriate dress extends to the whole outfit. Even if your clothing is okay the accessories may make it appear otherwise.

I think you need to post a pic of those sandals. They sound positively scandalous!

Well…… I am of the “no nekkid toes at work” school, but I would also expect that to be spelled out in the dress code. (If nekkid toes are allowed, they should be nicely manicured, of course.

Class – I’m of the nose piercing at work school. Ah to be young.
